Fonts for magazine

After doing rather a lot of researching and investigations into other Magazine and CD case ideas i have produced quite a large folder of fonts, colour schemes and pictures.

I first started looking into the best font to describe the band's feeling, mood and their type of music and searched the font website 'Myfonts' for a good 2 hours overall picking the different fonts i thought would work. The unique thing about this website is the ability to search a word you think describes your ideal font and the tagging system will display all fonts that have been described this way. Because the 'Myfonts' database of fonts is vast and is constantly being added too each search i conducted was never short in producing an array of individual looking fonts.

I searched the website several times for different bits of texts and each time i made a saved copy of the fonts i liked, these are the best out of the collection:
Fonts for band title:

At the end of this searching I chose the font 'Lady Rene' as it best shows the quirky and individual nature of our band which it represents through its sketchy appearance and mixture of upper and lower cases. Also because it has a mixture of serif's it gives an archaic look which is suited to our chosen genre.

Fonts for album name:

Overall all these fonts worked by looking similar to graffiti but still having that rough Indie look, this is characterised by how they look sketched and hand written. My choice out of these is Amarelinha which looks entirely different to the font Lady Rene (used for the band name) but still keeps that genre going which is vital for the magazine.

Fonts for magazine advert:

Although this font is only for something small like 'out now' or 'buy from itunes' it still needs to keep a running theme which has been established by the pictures and the previous fonts. So for this I will stick with Singela which was the perfect mix of a hand written style and a large presence to grab the readers attention.

Fonts for record company:

Although I had done some existing font searching for the Record company name i carried on looking for more suitable one. But after a while it was apparent that i had exhausted 'myfonts.com' and started coming across the same styles. In the end i will use the last font which i found originally when creating some mock ups, unfortnuately i didn't record its name but it can still be used as its elegant curves and rough texture make for a perfect combination of archaic style with urban influence.
