The National's debut album cover inspired me as it was so simple but yet very effective. The striking colour scribbles stand out, making it a cover you remember, whilst still adding mystery to the album and the band. Certain words can be picked out upon close inspection, but even then most are only connective words such as "the" and "any".

Jonsi's debut album was another that stood out, for a similar reason that The National's did, simply for the use of bright pastel like colours upon a dull or dim background. The album tells us who the artist is, highlighting that this is Jonsi's personal and debut album away from the band that originally brought him fame - Sigur Ros.

Cat Power's album influenced me greatly, with it already being one of my favourite album covers. This was the cover I've personally took the most inspiration from, as links can already be made to our music video and band. The two body sculptures on the front could easily represent the presence of our two characters within the music video. The intertxtual reference to the artist Slinkachu, also link to the use of figure art and the general theme of art. Whilst at this point it could be argued that the links are only faint, I could definitely take inspiration and ideas from this one album cover.
These particular album covers, influenced the Indie side to our band. The main feature of the covers are that they are memorable and quirky:

This album cover automatically came to mind when researching for ancillary products. Due to our band being a busking band, the theme of nature suits the band quite well. This simple design is effective and easy to re-create. For example, by adding three characters sitting under the tree to represent the band would be a simple but yet effective ancillary product. The use of the colour purple is great as well as the album sticks out to you whilst not being to in your face.

Mystery Jets have influenced us throughout our process of developing our video, even if we haven't followed their particular video patterns. This simple album cover sticks out whilst keeping the mystery of the band and the possible reference to band member Blaine Harrison, who suffers from spina bifida, meaning he can hardly walk without using crutches, a reference to the feet on the cover being tied together. Simple, personal to the band and still very effective.

This is my favourite 'band photographed' album cover, where the band feature upon the cover of the album. Very well suited to their style of music for their second album, whilst being another album that would suit the style of our band's ancillary. For example, creating an album with our band possibly posing within autumn leaves would suit them perfectly as well.

Finally, this album cover influenced the quirky side to our music video. If we are going to feature the Playmobil characters heavily on the digi-pack, this would be a perfect example of how to do it well. Photoshop would give us the ability to re-create a similar album cover. The album is well suited to the genre of music, however the busking theme doesn't really fit with this particular cover. On the other hand researching further and creating similar ideas that would relate to our characters would enable us to possibly include the busking/autumn theme.
