Key Generic Conventions:
The video begins with the use of synchronised action, with the drum being hit on the beat of the track. The tempo of the song drives the editing of the video, with the visuals changing on the beats of the tracks. However, the editing isn't fast paced, allowing the audience to see the visuals for longer, which is also enabled with the use of slow motion, adding emphasis. The mise en scene of the video reflects the feelings of the band, the passion they put into their performance (shown by the use of sparks being created and fires being started).
The video doesn't appear to have a narrative and is clearly performance based, following the typical convention of most of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs music videos, for example; Maps. Most of their music videos consist of heavy performance from the band, with only slight narratives.
